Mission Statement

The Boston Junior Blackhawks founded by Richie Salsman in 1995 are franchise members of the International Junior Hockey League and play out of Kasabuski Arena in Saugus Mass. The team is a college promotional team designed to develop and promote players to the college and professional level. In a few short years the organization has won several championships to include three National Championships including the 2008 Select National Champions and 4 IJHL Championships.

17 Blackhawks have advanced to professional ranks; 24 have advanced to division I college, and 35 to junior A hockey, over 190 advanced to division 2/3 hockey. Working with pro agents junior A and college coaches the Blackhawks have opened up many opportunities for their players. The key to their success has been finding hard working good students and through a simple concept of ice time and confidence to improve the players skills.

Education is stressed whether it be high school or college. Academic Advisors and study halls are set up weekly. SAT courses will be available for the players to help with college admissions as well as help with college essays.

The International Junior Super/Elite,  Elite A, and Selects teams are members of the league started by Charlie Neilsen the commissioner of the IJHL assisted by Dave McCarthy in an effort to provide an Elite level league for advanced players by using junior Elite rules minus fighting.

The travel being minimal with franchise teams:
Exeter New Hampshire,
Saugus MA, Woburn, MA, Springfield MA

The Select Division (Half Season) of the International League will allow younger players opportunities to develop their skills and a clear growth path to the Super Elite/Elite teams and college. Skills are stressed as well as academic achievement, which will make the transition easier to the next level.
